My name is Darya, and I’m an aspiring broadcast journalist with interests and passions that lie in lifestyle, culture and current affairs intertwined.

Over my three year course with RMIT, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, with a major in Pop Culture, I’ve developed numerous skills that I pride myself on, such as my ability to interview credible talents, as well as speak confidently on both live radio and television, further skills are listed below.

I’m dedicated to constantly gaining new experiences from people and places, and developing my own knowledge from others, whilst also providing my own perspective and opinions

Experience

July 2025 - Present | Kiss FM - Broadcast Journalist Intern

Hosting a weekly segment on live radio along with someone else, learning the ins and outs of radio and gaining live speaking experience. On the radio we will delve into topics relating to pop culture and weekly affairs, learning how to effectively discuss topics together in an informative, engaging and timely manner, whilst also navigating the multi task of timing ad breaks and music.

Further, assisting and organising our own live-streamed shows, aiding with filming, producing and soon to be organising. Where we gather talented local musicians and showcase their performance on multiple live streamed platforms for thousands of viewers.

Lastly, assisting in the development of the radio’s social media, offering opinions and perspectives on advertisements and promotion on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Utilising forms like Canva to edit material in an aesthetic and eye catching way.

December 2024 - Present  | DISSH - Assistant Stylist

DISSH is a brand that represents all my core values, such as sustainability and female empowerment. Being an Australian brand, founded by a mother and daughter, the brand maintains a principle of sourcing ethical materials and promoting confidence for all women shopping with the brand.

Working with DISSH means working closely with these values, and my interest in fashion, design, creativity and communication only goes on to positively impact my skills as a journalist.

DISSH, alongside other past retail and hospitality jobs, have only fine tuned my efficiency, organisation, timed pressure and social skills, all of which will only aid my success as a future journalist.
